Joe Horning Jr.

Chairman
Joseph F. Horning is Chairman of Horning Brothers, a real estate development firm which he founded with his brother Lawrence in 1958. Over the past 50 years, the company has developed (and still manages) over $600 million in apartments and retail centers in the Washington, DC area. The company has built 3,000 units of housing in Washington, DC alone. Two of the company's most notable projects are the Saratoga, an award-winning luxury high rise on Connecticut Avenue and Tivoli Square, an adaptive re-use of the National Historic Landmark Tivoli Theater in Columbia Heights. The mixed use project was awarded Washington Business Journal's "Best Real Estate Deal of 2004" and features a 250-seat theater, a 52,000 sf supermarket, 40,000sf of additional office and retail and 40 condominiums.

Mr. Horning has built housing and retail in nearly every Ward of Washington, DC. He was one of the first developers to help revive the dilapidated H Street NE and 14th Street NW corridors following the 1968 riots. Reflecting his long-standing commitment to the City, Mr. Horning has worked with five of the non-profit community development corporations chartered by the City.

Mr. Horning's commitment to Washington, DC and its residents extends to philanthropy and civic engagement as well. He has served in an advisory capacity to numerous public, private, and parochial educational institutions. He currently serves on the Boards of the Washington Middle School for Girls, and Live It Learn It. Also, he is on the board of City First Bank, the first federally chartered community development bank in the Nation's Capital. Mr. Horning is a member of the Federal City Council and it a retired mayoral appointee to the Charter School Board. He is a recipient of the Minority Employment Award from the Department of Housing and Community Development and the Sidney Glassman Award from the Apartment and Office Building Association and along with his wife Lynne receipient of the 2002 Washingtonian of the Year Award awarded by the Washington Interfaith Conference in 2005 for their dedication to community service.

Born and raised in the Brightwood section of Washington, DC, Mr. Horning holds a Bachelor's Degree from Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Joseph Horning III

Vice Chairman
Joseph Horning III oversees management of the company's retails and residential portfolio. He was part of the creative team that developed the award-winning mixed use Tivoli Square project. Mr. Horning has degrees from Kenyon College and New England Conservatory of Music.

David Roodberg

CEO and President
David Roodberg is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business including operations, development and strategic planning. Prior to joining Horning Brothers in 2002, David was the Executive Vice President of Combined Properties. David has a BS degree from Duke University and an MBA from University of Michigan. David is also involved on the boards of Washington Tennis and Education Foundation, Urban Land Institute (DC) Executive Committee, Wesley Housing Development Corporation and University of Maryland Masters in Real Estate Advisory Board. David has also been appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Housing Production Trust Fund Board for Washington, DC setting strategies for the City's investment in affordable housing.

Peter Larson

Vice President of Property Management
Peter Larson, CPM, joined Horning Brothers in 2013 as Vice President of Property Management. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the operations of 4,207 apartment homes. Peter has over 15 years of experience managing both conventional and affordable properties in a variety of markets across the Mid-Atlantic Region. Prior to working for Horning Brothers, Peter spent 10 years working as a Regional Manager for Greystar, Waterton Residential, and Kettler. Peter began his career with AvalonBay in 1997 after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Virginia Tech.

Jeff Milota

Vice President of Finance
Jeff Milota currently serves as Horning Brother's Vice President of Finance where he is responsible for overseeing all financing transactions. Additionally he is involved with development, acquisitions, asset management and strategic planning for the company. Prior to joining Horning Brothers in 2002, Jeff was with the Reznik Group primarily working on special projects for their audit clients. Jeff has an undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware in Accounting and is a CPA. Jeff is also involved with the University of Maryland Masters in Real Estate Program.

Wency Coleman

Director of Human Resources
Wency Coleman currently serves as Director of Human Resources at Horning Brothers. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing all areas of payroll, personnel, training and compliance. Wency has worked with Horning Brothers in Property Management as well as with Paradigm, and Polinger Shannon & Luchs. Wency is a member of the Society for Human Resources and has a BA in Management with Human Resources concentration, Strayer University, Washington, DC.
